Meet Erin
What did you study during university and what role did you have at UWACS?
I completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Japanese Studies, and I am currently studying a Master of Economics. I joined UWACS at the end of my undergraduate degree as treasurer, and spent some time as president following that.
What is your role currently?
I am currently a Graduate in the Smart Industries (Climate & Engineering) consulting team at Deloitte.
What does a day in your life look like for you?
It really does depend on the day, but after coffee run, it usually starts with a team meeting or ‘stand-up’ to develop an action plan for the day. This is often followed by some individual working time… which translates to a lot of time on PowerPoint. There’s also likely to be some team meetings or review sessions throughout the day.
How did UWACS help you find your way into the management consulting industry?
I had never heard of management consulting or what it involved until I attended a UWACS event in my first year of university. After attending a few more events, I decided to apply for the committee to learn more about the industry. My time with UWACS not only affirmed by interest in a career in consulting, but also enabled me to develop relevant skills and knowledge, and establish meaningful connections both within and beyond the consulting industry – all of which have served as the foundation for my career in the industry.
What was your favourite thing about UWACS?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my involvement with UWACS has been the people I have met. The club introduced me to a community of dedicated, supportive, and genuinely inspiring individuals I might not have crossed paths with otherwise. The friendships, laughter, and support I have gained through these connections is something I value greatly, and look back upon fondly.
